Textural stone for wellness design: for home well-being lovers, the must-see interiors by Stone Group AG of a villa completely studied to favour the energetic health of the holistic operator who lives there with her family.
Natural materials for natural living and textural stone for wellness design, above all when the natural materials involved are stones and marbles. Stone Group AG, provider of natural stones and luxury design services for the much demanding, German-speaking Swiss territory, curated the interiors of this spectacular private residence on the Zurich Lake. The project clearly reflected and anticipated some of the most discussed present trends in interior design. In the first place, the personal well-being of the inhabitants was the core need to be satisfied. The generous use of a variety of significant, stone wall textures was one of the main means the designer used. To achieve what? The perfect energetic quality for each room, according to its function and position.
This resulted also in a perfect balance between decoration and essentiality, class and eclecticism. Here, Asian style touches are never just stylish or fashionable, nor is their perfectly harmonic combination with contemporary details and lines. A first example can be seen in the private living room. The rich look of the backlit onyx complements are balanced by their hyper-essential, rectangular shape, the beautiful Alta quartzite pavement is tempered by the fluffy carpet, the modern furniture with its defined personality is smoothed by its chic, beige and brown tones. Even the most decorative and symbolic accents added by the exotic art pieces, such as the elaborate bronze Ganesh and the couple of cranes with intertwining necks, are placed in order to stand out of the very delicate frame of a contemporary, textural stone wall. The effect was obtained with our minimalistic “tratto” tiles in the most traditional of stone materials, travertino latino.
Of course, as regards energetic quality and equilibrium, the treatment room required the utmost care and attention. Only what is essential shows up here, carefully displayed in order to keep the setting airy and light. The sole piece of furniture is made of the same, warm wood as the floor and the door finishings. Its rich legs made of black “nero marquinia” marble, together with the feature wall at its back, provide just the right color symmetry to the room, characterized by the triumphant white of the remaining vertical surfaces. The choice of the wall design is particularly interesting here. Possibly nothing conveys more aesthetic order and harmony than the typical lines and shapes of classical architecture; this were the basic inspiration for this tiles model, conceived starting from a study on the recurrent profiles of Andrea Palladio’s architectural design.
One of the most amazing results, though, was achieved in the master bath and wellness area. The concept is mainly dedicated to a celebration of water, and of its purifying and relaxing power. Right from the entrance, the private and quiet mood of this beautiful space is conveyed by the use of a feature stone wall dressed up with the “fondo” texture, recalling the fluent shape of waves and of sea bottoms. The long sequence of curved spotlights, like water ripples, adds some balanced drama to the scene, together with the sequence of “nero assoluto” marble plinths hosting four different stone monks from Laos: peaceful faces and suffused light to provide the best of welcomes in this zone. The continuity of the wall texture then leads into the heart of this small home paradise. Here is placed the true water sanctuary of the house, where a breathtaking open view on the Lake can be enjoyed either from the Jacuzzi, laying on the vast tatami sofa facing the fireplace, or just lounging on the vast wooden terrace after a water massage.
