Our “vello” marble wall covering and “mikado” marble floor covering in a multi-generational family apartment renovation, whose design concept was born from a famed designer carpet.
Design by Natela Mankaeva (Decorator N studio)
Natela Mankaeva, the founder of the Decorator N studio, was tasked with renovating a multi-generational apartment.
While decorating a family house is definitely not easy, doing it for a multi-generational family house could be even more challenging.
The task was to decorate an entire apartment to make it suitable for the parents, the primary clients, and one of their children who is going to move there in the future.
Asked to balance the minimalism longed by the younger ones and the “something more picturesque” required by the parents, interior designer Natela Mankaeva found her keystone in a carpet.
A huge fan of Frank Gehry, the interior designer fell in love with a carpet of his, making it the first element, to begin with, to create her whole interior design project.
Inspired by the carpet, indeed, Natela Mankaeva spread red hues across space, in addition to bold and vivid works of art and patterns.
But walls speak design, too, in this apartment.
In the living room, our “vello” designer marble wall covering perfectly fits its curved shapes, inspired by the beard of the statue of Pericles, in the warm eclectic decor. The “grigio tundra” marble in the honed finish further enhances the warm sensation of this earthy-toned space, while the colourful “mikado” marble floor covering becomes the centrepiece of the entry hall, pervading the room with a playful yet elegant charm.
