A jewel of a Feng Shui luxury office design where the choice of materials was really important to assure a contextual harmony between the building and the whole of its rooms, as well as with its surroundings.
From the architects’ statement
“The headquarters of STONE Group AG, provider of natural stones and luxury design services, and Lithos Design’s German-speaking partner in Switzerland, were designed by the internal design staff serving the Company’s much-demanding clients.
The owner’s goal was to create an open and transparent luxury design office for everyone, customers, business partners and all the people working for STONE Group. Wide space, transparency, efficiency, quality and communication were some of the basic requirements which had to be accomplished. Next to that, the customers should have the possibility to experience – see, feel and perceive – the generously exhibited natural stones in their greatest variety, and have different spots available for consulting, to meet, discuss and plan.
The project started with the design and redesign of the already existing premises. The original building was a single-family house, which had already been turned into an office house, and to which a showroom was added in 2008. The company kept on growing over the following years, so in 2013 a strategic decision was taken to expand the office, with more workplaces and an extra room for designing and drawing, as well as to enlarge and renew the showroom area.
The choice of materials for the premises was one of the key subjects during the planning phase since many important criteria had to be met, for example, the need of a generous, open and transparent interior design, which should also be communicative, warm, welcoming, stylish, energetically balanced etc. The rules of the Feng Shui science were also carefully evaluated and integrated. It became a holistically elaborated project. In terms of the choice of materials, not only colours and structure were important, but also the contextual harmony with the building and the whole of its rooms, as well as with its surroundings.
Every room has its own mood and character. Nevertheless, all the rooms are transparently connected. They altogether appear as a harmonious unity, even though the materials chosen vary in style, colours and structure. There, you will find for example classic white marble floors combined with Nero Assoluto marble with rustic finishing, all in large size plates. At the same time, the interior design includes very fancy and stylish decorative walls made of engraved natural stone tiles from Lithos Design’s “Pietre Incise” collection, framing the fireplace or decorating the outdoor logo walls; besides, visitors can enjoy a drink at the backlit onyx bar. Classical, Mediterranean and Asian style touches, perfectly combined, complete the picture.
Stone Group’s headquarters show natural stones in their bare beauty. It resulted to be a particularly energetic and inspiring place, where people like to be and feel truly comfortable. The goals of the project were definitely achieved.”
