Gantous Arquitectos and Interior Designer Simon Hamui remodelled an existing house in the north of Mexico, maximizing the surrounding mountain range view, blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, and letting natural stone interiors shine with our Tratto textured marble wall.
From the designers’ statement
“Updating this contemporary villa in Mexico was an opportunity to create a charming escape which maximizes the breathtaking views of the mountain range where it sets. Despite its recent construction, the two-story home required substantial floor plan and facade alterations as well as new interior and exterior finishes. We improved the flow of interior spaces while integrating them into the gardens and stunning views.
The most noticeable change is the transitional space from the main living room to the outdoor garden. The latter features a veranda crowned with a trellis that produces a striking interplay of light and shadow. The proximity and height of the adjacent mountains required this main social area to have high ceilings and panoramic windows, creating a clear connection between the indoors and the outdoors.
A palette of earthy colours contributes to the serene aesthetics of the house and its surroundings. The large living area features white-oak planks on the floor and Santa Maria marble cladding on the walls.
The same Santa Maria stone in a honed finish has also been chosen for the elegant “tratto” modular textured tiles by Lithos Design, here in a particular custom stone version
In collaboration with Interior Designer Simon Hamui”.
